The long-awaited Jaecoo J8 has finally been launched in Malaysia, marking a bold new entry in the premium D-segment SUV space. Offered in two configurations – a 2WD five-seater and an AWD six-seater – the J8 is priced from RM178,800, with the top variant going up to around RM198,800.
Under the hood, both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers an impressive 183kW and 385 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The AWD model adds performance confidence, achieving 0–100 km/h in 9 seconds, and is capable of reaching a top speed of 200 km/h.

In terms of size and presence, the J8 is built to rival larger SUVs in the market. Its dimensions – 4,820 mm in length, 1,930 mm wide, and a 2,820 mm wheelbase – place it firmly in the same league as contenders like the Kia Sorento and Proton X90. The AWD variant features a six-seater layout with individual second-row captain chairs, while the 2WD keeps things practical with five seats and more luggage capacity.

The cabin experience is where the J8 truly shines. The base 2WD variant features a 12-speaker Sony audio system, ambient lighting, and six airbags, along with a clean, modern interior design using faux leather materials. Step up to the AWD model, and you'll get a 14-speaker Sony system with headrest speakers, 10 airbags, massaging seats for both front and second rows, and ventilated driver seating. There’s also a built-in digital video recorder, automatic parking, and NFC-based keyless entry.

Visually, both models feature a dual 12.3-inch digital display setup, serving as both instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The interior is finished with woodgrain panels, metallic accents, and a floating centre console that adds to the upmarket appeal.

The AWD variant goes further with CDC adaptive suspension for improved ride comfort and off-road confidence, along with a water wading depth of 450 mm. However, its third-row seating comes at the cost of boot space – only 200 litres, compared to a generous 738 litres in the five-seater.
For those looking to personalise their ride, colour choices for the 2WD variant include Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. The AWD model features the same options in a dual-tone finish with a contrasting black roof.

All Jaecoo J8 owners in Malaysia will enjoy a 7-year/150,000 km warranty, providing long-term peace of mind. As part of the launch campaign, customers who book before July 21 will also receive an exclusive early-bird package that includes 1 year of free insurance, a 10-year unlimited mileage powertrain warranty, and invitation to a special off-road driving experience hosted by Jaecoo Malaysia. These offers make the J8 one of the most attractive new SUV launches in 2025.
